Job Overview

We are seeking a Simulation Reservoir Engineer to support the Guyana Enterprise business unit's Liza-Payara assets. This is a backfill role on a growing reservoir team, created as the group takes on additional scope within the asset. The individual will join a team of 12 reservoir engineers, reporting to the Reservoir Supervisor and receiving day-to-day technical direction from a Technical Team Lead, with close collaboration alongside geoscience counterparts to build and maintain the simulation model. The role runs on an initial one-year contract with strong potential for extension based on performance and team fit, and calls for a hands-on simulation expert who can also translate model outputs into economic evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed reservoir simulation studies in Petrel RE and Intersect to evaluate depletion schemes and investigate technical issues within the Liza-Payara assets, representing roughly 70% of the role.
  • Translate simulation model outputs into economic evaluations, including NPV, IRR, and other return metrics, to support opportunity evaluation and infill well placement decisions, representing roughly 30% of the role.
  • Provide guidance to support the Reservoir Leadership Team in achieving desired performance objectives and maintaining high technical standards.
  • Develop plans and programs as required by the Reservoir Management team, and guide fellow reservoir engineers in implementing them.
  • Perform depletion plan assessments to support the company in asset acquisition evaluations, cost allocation, and opportunity evaluation.
  • Perform related studies necessary to support simulation work, including PVT, inflow/outflow, relative permeability, SCAL, and other evaluations.
  • Lead and/or participate in peer reviews to help ensure high technical standards are maintained.
  • Support risk assessments and uncertainty analysis studies, including value-of-information assessments for data acquisition plans.
  • Provide necessary input to drilling, facilities, and other groups as needed to support projects.
  • Mentor less experienced reservoir engineers in simulation and other studies.
  • Document results in a clear, comprehensive format, in both written and graphic form, and provide timely updates to management and partners.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, and share safety-related lessons learned across the project and company.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry, actively running simulations as an individual contributor rather than in a purely managerial capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in reservoir simulation, including performing and guiding detailed simulation studies.
  • Experience evaluating various depletion schemes and investigating technical issues using dynamic simulation models.
  • Recent, hands-on proficiency in Petrel RE and Intersect, ideally within the last 1 to 1.5 years.
  • Experience translating reservoir simulation outputs into economic evaluations, such as NPV, IRR, and other return metrics tied to infill well placement and opportunity evaluation.
  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Exceptional knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals and technical skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and solutions and conduct reservoir evaluations independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate and influence across levels, from senior management to individual contributors.
  • Working knowledge of reservoir management practices, processes, and expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively within an integrated, cross-functional project team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
