Intermediate Warehouse Materials Handler

Description
Our client is seeking an Intermediate Warehouse Materials Handler to support hands-on warehouse and material handling operations at their St. Albans facility. This role is focused primarily on the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks, moving and handling materials, and supporting day-to-day warehouse operations.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on forklift experience, including experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Reliability, safety, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team are critical to success in this role.
This is a 100% onsite position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional overtime based on operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload/offload trucks and trailers using forklifts and other material-handling equipment
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, position, stage, and organize materials
- Handle heavy materials safely and efficiently in accordance with established operating procedures
- Support daily warehouse and material-handling activities based on operational and field requirements
- Assist with receiving, staging, loading, unloading, and movement of materials throughout the facility
- Safely operate heavy-capacity forklifts, including equipment with capacities of 7,000 lbs. or greater
- Inspect equipment and work areas and report any safety, equipment, or material-handling concerns
- Follow established procedures for the safe handling, movement, and storage of materials
- Work closely with the warehouse team and follow direction from supervisors and onsite leadership
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Support the team during periods of high shipping and receiving activity, which may include multiple truckloads per day
- Follow all company operating procedures, safety requirements, and PPE standards
- Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude in a team-oriented environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on forklift operating experience; 5+ years strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts, with experience handling 7,000+ lbs. strongly preferred
- Experience operating forklifts in an industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, energy, construction, or similar environment
- Current or recent forklift certification; site-specific certification will also be completed as required
- Proven experience loading and unloading trucks and safely handling heavy materials
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and a clean safety record
- Reliable transportation and a strong record of attendance and punctuality
- Ability and willingness to work 100% onsite, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and follow direction from onsite leadership
- Positive, dependable, and self-motivated approach to work
- Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse/material-handling environment
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and all applicable safety requirements
- Ability to provide and wear steel-toed safety footwear; other required PPE will be provided onsite
Nice to have:
- Experience operating forklifts with capacities of 10,000–20,000 lbs.
- Experience in a heavy industrial, energy, utilities, oil & gas, manufacturing, or similar environment
- Previous experience working in a unionized facility
