Drafting Technologist

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Job Overview:
- The Drafting Technologist supports Engineering and Operations teams by developing, updating, and maintaining accurate technical drawings for pipeline and facility assets. This role requires extensive experience working across multiple engineering disciplines within the oil and gas industry and the ability to translate field information, project requirements, and engineering concepts into high-quality design documentation.
- The successful candidate will be highly proficient in CAD drafting, capable of interpreting field data and engineering inputs, and committed to producing drawings that meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Experience working with Enbridge drawing standards and document management systems is considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, revise, and maintain engineering drawings across mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Convert engineering concepts, project deliverables, and field-generated redlines into accurate and compliant CAD drawings.
- Review, interpret, and incorporate site markups, field sketches, photographs, and as-built information into final drawing packages.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to Enbridge drafting standards (DS 001, DS 002, DS 003), engineering specifications, and industry practices.
- Prepare and support the development of Issued for Construction (IFC) and As-Built drawing packages.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, operations personnel, field teams, and external service providers to ensure drawing accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
- Maintain document control processes, including revision tracking, drawing updates, and project records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies through technical review, stakeholder engagement, and independent analysis.
- Support the integrity and accuracy of Process Safety Information (PSI) by ensuring technical documents remain current and compliant.
Scope and Impact:
- Supports a diverse portfolio of pipeline and facility projects through the development and maintenance of various engineering drawing types.
- Works across multidisciplinary engineering environments requiring coordination with both internal stakeholders and external contractors.
- Exercises independent judgment in interpreting incomplete, evolving, or conflicting project information to produce accurate engineering documentation.
- Contributes directly to project execution quality, operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and Process Safety Information (PSI) accuracy.
- Plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of engineering records and supporting safe, efficient asset operations.
Working Relationships:
- Engineering Drawings Team for day-to-day coordination, workload management, and drawing delivery.
- Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to clarify design intent, equipment configurations, and field conditions.
- Asset Information Management, Engineering Records, and PSI teams to ensure compliance with documentation standards and data governance requirements.
- External EPC contractors, vendors, and drafting service providers to support project execution and deliverable quality.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of drafting experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with additional design platforms such as Revit is considered an asset.
- Proven experience creating and maintaining P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, equipment drawings, and related technical documentation.
- Strong ability to interpret field redlines, site photographs, engineering markups, and project documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Effective organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and perform successfully within a contract, remote, or geographically dispersed team environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience working with Enbridge drawing standards, document control processes, and engineering information management systems such as LPDMS.
- Familiarity with pipeline systems, facility operations, and midstream oil and gas infrastructure.
- Knowledge of instrumentation design, control systems, equipment tagging conventions, and associated documentation practices.
- Experience supporting brownfield modifications, facility upgrades, and as-built documentation programs.
