Position Category Lead

  • Pay Rate: $53.60/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 year 
  • Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Raise is currently hiring a Position Category Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada

Description 

The mission of the Category Lead (CL) in this role will be to ensure their assigned categories are meeting performance objectives in support of ’s goals and priorities. To do this the CL operates like an overall 'owner/ manager' of the category and is an expert both in understanding the external category environment (suppliers and market) and in ’s internal drivers and requirements for the category. The Category Lead leads cross functional teams to develop, implement and sustain categories and works closely with our internal and external stakeholder groups. The Ideal candidate in this role will be a relationship development focused individual who is interested in working with several internal stakeholders and requires a skill set in listening, is both service oriented, and succeeds with collaboration positive demeanor, people skills a team player but a self starter who can maintain and build stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development & Planning:
    • Develop and plan the implementation of category and/or sourcing strategies or related work packages.
    • Requires excellent skills in communication, analysis, critical thinking, planning/project management, supplier/market research, problem-solving, and facilitation of decision-making.
  • Strategy Implementation:
    • Implement strategies using a thorough understanding of sourcing and category management processes and standards.
    • Requires good project management practices, knowledge of public sector procurement law, and appropriate application of supply chain concepts.
  • Project Leadership & Support:
    • Lead and/or support projects, including developing and conducting multi-stage RFPs.
    • Preparing for and conducting negotiations (initial award and extensions).
    • Implementing supplier relationship management initiatives, including analyzing and resolving escalated contract or supplier issues.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with 's business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders through timely communication, issue resolution, and relevant reporting.
  • Subject Matter Expert:
    • Act as a subject matter expert by advising on category management and/or sourcing best practices, approaches, and standards to enhance current and future capability.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in sourcing, category management, or equivalent, preferably within a complex environment
  • Experience in categories or infrastructure capital project sourcing (developing, implementing, and sustaining strategies)
  • In-Depth Procurement & Legal Knowledge – knowledge of public sector procurement law.
  •  Experience with Sourcing work, developing sourcing strategies and document RFPs/RFIs, diligent with the details
  • Advanced Relationship Management experience – relationship development focused individual who can establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement categories, working closely with internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Experience preparing for and conducting negotiations (award and extensions) and analyzing/resolving escalated contract or supplier issues.
  • Proficient working with advanced Excel and PowerPoint, drafting well written business briefing documents highlighting key information for leadership review.
  • Build Strategic relationships
  • Sourcing work, developing sourcing strategies and document RFPs/RFIs, diligent with the details
  • Nice to haves:
    • Operational supply chain experience
    • Experience with BC Bid would be an asset
    • Someone who has experience working in larger/complex organizations (people from the Oil & Gas industry)
  • Education and Skills 
    • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.
  • Asset Education:
    • Certificate or additional education in Supply Chain Management.
    • Certificate or additional education in Project Management, Change Management, Facilitation, or Communication.
  • Initiative driven individual that handles ambiguity with ease and can maintain focus and positive engagement with stakeholders.

Additional Information 

  • Candidates in this role will be working a Hybrid 2 days in the office per week, Wednesdays are mandatory
  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
