Pay Rate: $28.00 – $32.00/hr on W2, depending on experience

Work Type: Onsite – Rosharon, TX 77583

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM | Monday – Thursday (9 hours), Friday (half-day) | Subject to change depending on team needs.

Duration: 12-month contract with possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.

Additional Details: Standard Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.

Raise is currently hiring an Engineering Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.



Job Overview:

Engineering technicians work with explosive materials and associated hardware for use in the oil and gas industry. They are responsible for safely preparing, handling, and detonating explosives to achieve specific test objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of explosives safety protocols, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing.
  • Explosive record keeping.
  • Test data collection & documentation.
  • Forklift operations.
  • Crane operations.
  • Pressure operations.
  • Metal fabrication.
    • Metal arc welding
    • Cutting torch
    • Plasma cutter
  • Facilities & equipment maintenance
  • Observes safe working practices, rules and regulations, wears PPE as required and correct and report hazards immediately.
  • Conduct full-scale explosive testing (not lab-based).
  • Maintain explosive record keeping (critical and regulated by ATF).
  • Collect and document test data.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and pressure systems.
  • Perform metal fabrication (arc welding, cutting torch, plasma cutter).
  • Maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and wear PPE.
  • High emphasis on explosives safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Explosive record keeping is a legal responsibility (ATF-regulated).
  • Strict adherence to PPE and safety protocols
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with explosives preferred.
  • No minimum years of experience required; open to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to learn and perform physically demanding work is essential.
  • Prior experience in metal fabrication is preferred.
  • Experience with explosives is a bonus (often from military background), but not required—training is provided.
  • Open to candidates from military, manufacturing, or other transferable industries.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills and use of hand/pneumatic tools.
  • Basic Microsoft skills (Word, Excel)
  • Use of common hand/pneumatic tools
  • Works closely with a senior technician for training and support.
  • Two-person operations only—no solo work due to safety policies.

Training:

  • Conducted on-site in Rosharon.
  • Extensive training period: minimum 6 months.
  • Full proficiency and ability to lead projects may take over a year.
  • Includes internal crane training and ATF background check.

Work Environment:

  • PPE provided: FR coveralls, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat.
  • Casual dress allowed (e.g., shorts and T-shirts under coveralls).
