IT Category Manager

Raise is currently hiring an IT Category Manager on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
- The TIS Category Manager is responsible for overseeing Technology and Information Services support by translating category goals into strategies aligned with both short- and long-term objectives of the stakeholder group and the broader enterprise.
- This role involves developing, implementing, and managing TIS category strategies to mitigate risk and deliver competitive advantages, particularly with high-spend suppliers.
- The manager is also accountable for ongoing supplier relationship management (SRM) for priority agreements with TIS suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Category Strategy Development: - Develop and implement comprehensive TIS category strategies using market intelligence, demand management, sustainability, supplier diversity, and total cost of ownership.
- Manage cross-functional teams to ensure performance, supply continuity, and risk management.
 
- Sourcing and Contract Management: - Execute sourcing strategies from proposal development to contract negotiation and execution.
- Drive contract utilization with effective implementation plans, metrics, and reporting.
 
- Internal Stakeholder Management: - Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders for demand planning, strategy development, and contract advocacy.
- Influence strategy implementation across the enterprise.
 
- Market Intelligence and Cost Modelling: - Maintain company-wide demand profiles and external supply and demand market intelligence.
- Interpret market intelligence to drive category strategies and inform stakeholders.
- Build cost models to understand costs and results during supplier negotiations.
 
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): - Manage SRM activities through the relationship lifecycle, including segmentation, governance, and performance management.
- Develop new suppliers and strengthen current relationships.
- Conduct cost assessments with suppliers to reduce costs and identify improvements.
 
- Scope and Dimensions: - Optimize and leverage category management processes, policies, and tools with significant corporate financial impact.
- Oversee categories accounting for most of client’s $1.6 billion annual sourceable spend.
- Support TIS client groups and various business areas across the enterprise.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies throughout the M&A lifecycle.
 
- Collaboration and Communication: - Work with personnel, law, and other stakeholders in sourcing strategy development and implementation.
- Communicate complex commercial and contractual issues to internal clients.
- Negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve enterprise consistency and value.
 
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible sourcing experience in the TIS category, specifically in Software, Hardware, and TIS services.
- Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with strong influencing abilities.
- Experience negotiating large Software, Hardware, and TIS service agreements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification or MBA.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) / Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation or equivalent.
