Raise is hiring a Safety Specialist for a global Canadian company that specializes in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.  

 

This position is a one (1) year contract based out of Saskatoon, supporting Northern Saskatchewan projects. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward. 

  

  • Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodation provided 
  • Rotation (2 weeks in-2 weeks out, 11 hours a day) 
  • Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 

  

Description 

The Safety Specialist ensures that construction activities comply with safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) requirements, and monitors daily activities to identify hazardous conditions and implementation of safe work procedures 

  

Role Accountabilities: 

  • Work closely with middle and senior management of the operation 
  • Responsible for ensuring all safety, health and environmental procedures and work instructions are followed 
  • Participate in meetings 
  • Investigates injuries, accidents and near misses as per site corrective action processes 
  • Must have formal investigation training and experience leading investigations 
  • Develop corrective actions based on investigation results 
  • Present investigation results to the management team 
  • Database skills – entering investigation results into CIRS (Cameco Incident Reporting System) 
  • Monitors quality of incident investigations and ensures effective and appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner 

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a safety specialist role within the construction industry (minimum 10 years) 
  • CSO Designation 
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, industry best practices, and SHEQ management system. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse team members. 
  • Proficient in conducting workplace inspections and identifying potential hazards. 
  • Experience in investigating incidents and contributing to the development of corrective action plans. 
  • Experience with conducting regular workplace inspections! 
  • Ability to deliver safety training programs or presentations (desired). 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
