Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Peterborough, Ontario

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our clients team in Peterborough, Ontario. This role involves leading projects with accountability for budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction. The Senior Project Manager will ensure that resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution, with a focus on mentorship and coaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead diverse teams, sometimes larger than 15 members, towards successful contract execution.
  • Provide effective leadership by communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
  • Maintain project schedules and registers, leveraging team support.
  • Publish accurate and timely project reports as defined in the contract.
  • Take preventative and corrective actions based on project performance metrics.
  • Ensure resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution.
  • Define and clarify uncommon or unique project roles in complex organizations.
  • Coordinate and support execution of planned activities, reviewing effectiveness with the project team and client.
  • Manage changes affecting contract execution using change management procedures.
  • Lead complex proposals and support planning for contract submissions and changes.
  • Support sub-contracting efforts and ensure effective sub-vendor management.
  • Balance client and organizational expectations for mutual success.
  • Escalate issues when mutual success is jeopardized, with recovery plans or options.
  • Identify, communicate, monitor, mitigate, and avoid risks during contract execution.
  • Ensure contract execution complies with organizational governance and departmental procedures.
  • Suggest and support improvements in departmental governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
  • Support Accounts Receivable in timely receipt of client payments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • 15 years of related experience.
  • Mastery of project management fundamentals, including scheduling, earned-value management, budget controls, and change management.
  • Understanding of complex contract management.
  • Experience in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets.
  • Experience in complex client management and commitment to client relationships.
  • Professional mastery of English, both written and verbal.

Desired Characteristics:

  • 20 years of related industry experience.
  • 10 years of project management experience in a project-based organization.
  • Experience in the nuclear energy production industry.
  • High competency with Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
