Contract Length: 12 Months

Position Purpose:

  • Performs reconciliations of securities lending and trading activity. Reconciles daily balances in customer and firm accounts against the trading activity, ensuring trades and settlement of loan and collateral transactions are executed in a timely manner, while accurately monitoring collateral requirements on an intraday basis. Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with brokers concerning settlement of transactions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between the trader and clearing area, interacting with personnel from various institutions to correct trading activity related issues
  • Coordinate the settlement of Canadian/North American or global securities lending and trading activity (security types include: bond, equity and money market)
  • Review monthly statements for determining lending fees payable and receivable
  • Balance money entries
  • Develop and maintain supplier and customer relationships
  • Devise trading, option and hedge strategies
  • Identify opportunities and develop channels for purchase or sale of securities or commodities
  • Inform other traders, managers, or customers of market conditions, including volume, price, competition, and dynamics
  • Process paperwork for special orders, including margin and option purchases

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Canadian Securities course
  • 5-9 years of North American financial services experience
  • Experience in financial services industry – would be an asset

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of specialty transaction guidelines and systems
  • Knowledge of financial analysis
  • Advanced user proficiency with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, spreadsheet/financial accounting skills, and any other related accounting software

  • In this position, you will be accountable for providing high quality client service to an assigned group of Investment Managers, through the management of day-to-day account activity, ensuring that client service is a priority when dealing with and responding to day-to-day queries and requests. You will ensure  a superior level of service is maintained at all times, share knowledge of pending issues and escalates items where necessary to the line manager or the relevant Client Managers (CM). Working in collaboration with Client Managers and other groups within Client Services and Operations, you will promptly resolve queries and assist in the development of solutions to address clients’ needs and or issues. In addition, you will be accountable for ensuring all risk management and compliance policies are adhered to.
