Admin Support/Market Support
- Pay Rate: $42.00/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 4 Months

Raise is currently hiring a Admin Support/Market Support on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The ideal applicant will be comfortable interacting directly with customers, and organizing and progressing a portfolio that may include many ongoing files. The analyst will coordinate a shared portfolio of customer requests with several colleagues, with the objective of ensuring customer concerns are addressed promptly and completely. Customers sometimes have complex or unusual problems and solving them will require the analyst to become integrated with a broad support network within the while maintaining friendly and productive relationships with industry.
The Reliability Requirements & Market Support is a cross-functional group with several diverse functions.
The Market Support team is responsible for:
- Business owner for systems that operate the energy and ancillary services markets
- Administer access to the energy and ancillary service markets
- Determine the types and amounts of ancillary services that the grid needs
- Procure ancillary services
- Develop rules, standards, and connection requirements, and help customers understand how they apply to generating facilities
- Design and build operational tools
- Provide various engineering services in support of customer connections
- Develop solutions for grid reliability challenges
Accountabilities
- Administer market access systems, maintain records, and review and implement requests to enroll as a market participant and add or change assets
- Provide training and technical support for customers who participate in the energy and AS markets, referring them to engineers or IT specialists when required
- Manage contracts, agreements, qualifications, and payments for system access
- Be the first point of contact between the organization and electricity market participants
- Identify opportunities to improve Market Support processes and find efficiencies
- Develop and publish processes, application procedures, forms and requirements related to grid and market access
- Comply with organization policies including health and safety, internal compliance, provision of information related to authoritative documents, records management, and others
Responsibilities
- Help customers connect new assets to the grid
- Approve access to digital certificates for access to the ’s Energy Trading System (ETS)
- Set up assets in ETS and the ’s Automated Dispatch and Messaging System (ADAMS)
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to process the annual Generator Unit Owner’s Contribution (GUOC) refund
- Coordinating internal/external stakeholder meetings
- Retrieve, manipulate and present data to highlight progress and trends
- Help the organization implement changes to the energy and Ancillary Service markets processes
Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively on teams
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Detail orientation with exceptional organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high level of initiative and ability to balance competing priorities
- Consistently high level of professionalism
- Developing or implementing business processes
- Problem solving in a collaborative business context
- Direct knowledge of the Alberta Electric System and/or generation operations is an advantage
- Experience working in the utilities industry is considered an asset
- Prior experience with databases is an advantage
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
