Hybrid Interaction/Visual Designer 

  • Location: Toronto, ON- Hybrid – (4 days onsite)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months.

Responsibilities

  • Be the consistent day-to-day product designer dedicated to a squad that includes a content designer, researcher, and senior design leader who are shared across multiple squads. 
  • The designer will be relied on for communicating and managing the day-to-day design needs of their dedicated squad (with support and leadership from their Design Lead) and will be a key partner to their Product and Technology teammates. 
  • Depending on the complexity of the project, the designer will be responsible for leading or supporting the interaction and visual design deliverables of the squad, from early-stage concepting all the way to delivering final ready-for-dev design files 
  • Participate in Design Research, and in data-led design approaches 
  • Be accountable for following accessible design requirements and visual brand guidelines, and for ensuring that designs leverage our design system
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure visual design consistency across our users’ journey
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners: product managers, project managers, business analysts, developers and quality assurance teams.
  • Participation in Agile ceremonies 
  • This is an excellent opportunity for an Intermediate designer who is ready to take the step into a senior or lead role, but who will appreciate the more collaborative experience
  • A strategic interaction designer with a strong understanding of user interface patterns and behaviours, who knows how to balance those imperatives with business requirements and marketing considerations.
  • A strong communicator and presenter, and a natural leader who can facilitate ideation sessions, provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and ignites design conversation by inviting and responding to feedback
  • A self-starter with solid time management and project managements skills, who is comfortable providing informal project management for the squad
  • Familiarity with accessible design requirements
  • Familiarity with using and contributing to a Design System

Must have skills 

  • 5+ years of experience as a designer, with approximately 50% visual design and 50% interaction design, including 2+ years in loyalty, retail, or e-commerce.
  • Experience working in Lean UX and with Agile dev teams
  • Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and collaboration tools such as Figma, Mural, and design systems
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, and the rationale and logic behind design decisions

Nice to have skills

  • Some education or experience with facilitating or supporting user research, with an understanding of various research methods and how/when they are applied
  • Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, information architecture, and visual brand design
