Raise is currently hiring a Linux System Administrator on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a market leading financial institution

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux System Administrator for a contract engagement within their Infrastructure & Cloud Services division. In this role, you will step in as a critical backfill for an internal senior Full-Time Employee who has been reprioritized to a high-visibility, strategic corporate initiative. As part of the Linux Server Operations team, you will ensure the seamless stability, security, and optimization of core enterprise server environments. You will be responsible for day-to-day operational support, infrastructure automation, and assisting with cloud integration, ensuring that our systems meet the rigorous demands of modern banking operations.

Responsibilities            

  • System Maintenance & Operations: Manage, monitor, and maintain enterprise Linux server environments to guarantee high availability, performance, and security.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Leverage configuration management tools to automate repetitive system tasks, streamline deployments, and enforce state consistency across environments.
  • Cloud & Virtualization Management: Administer and optimize virtualized infrastructure and support workloads transitioning to or residing within public cloud environments.
  • Scripting & Tooling: Develop and maintain robust automation scripts to optimize operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Incident & Problem Resolution: Provide tier-3 troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues, collaborating closely with cross-functional IT and security teams.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all Linux systems adhere to ’s stringent security policies, patch management schedules, and regulatory compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Senior Linux System Administrator or DevOps capacity, ideally within an enterprise financial institution or highly regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of managing infrastructure at scale using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and security best practices (SSH, firewalls, hardening).
  • Linux Expertise: Deep, production-level experience administering enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
  • Automation & Configuration Management: Proficiency with SaltStack or Ansible for infrastructure orchestration and configuration management.
  • Scripting: Strong proficiency in Bash scripting (Python or Go is an asset) for task automation.
  • Virtualization: Hands-on experience managing and configuring VMware vSphere environments.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. ( preferred)
  • Preferred Certifications (Highly Desirable)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) or Engineer (LFCE).
  • Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate or official Ansible/SaltStack
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
