HW Engineering Applications System Administrator
- Location: Toronto, ON – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
- Pay Rate: $100/hr
- Contract Length: 6–12 Months

Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and support engineering applications used by hardware and product development teams.
- Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting of EDA/CAD/PLM tools.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for engineering users across R&D environments.
- Monitor system performance, application availability, and licensing utilization.
- Manage software licensing, vendor coordination, renewals, and compliance activities.
- Support integration and interoperability between engineering applications and enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve tool performance.
- Maintain documentation for application configurations, processes, and support procedures.
- Assist with infrastructure planning, capacity management, and environment optimization.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for engineering IT operations and support services.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience administering engineering applications within R&D or hardware engineering environments.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting one or more of the following platforms:
- PTC Creo
- Windchill PLM
- Cadence (OrCAD, Allegro, Sigrity)
- Ansys
- Siemens QuestaSim
- Altium
- MATLAB
- Experience with software license management and vendor coordination.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills for engineering application environments.
- Experience supporting hardware engineering, electronics, semiconductor, or product design teams.
- Understanding of Windows/Linux environments and enterprise IT infrastructure concepts.
- Strong communication and stakeholder support skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation or scripting for application administration and support.
- Familiarity with PLM workflows, simulation environments, and engineering data management.
- Exposure to cloud-enabled engineering application environments is considered an asset.
