Job Overview

The CADD Technician II is responsible for preparing and maintaining simple to intermediate-level engineering and construction drawings for gas distribution and pipeline-related projects. This role supports engineering, construction, and operations teams by providing accurate drafting, mapping, facility data, and technical documentation. The position requires proficiency in CAD software, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support project execution and facility management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare simple to intermediate-level piping and mechanical fabrication drawings, civil site and grading plans, and pipeline alignment/profile drawings for gas distribution and pipeline construction projects, including gate stations, meter and regulator stations, and related facilities.
  • Coordinate assigned projects and assist with project tracking, drawing reviews, and status reporting.
  • Provide technical drawings, facility information, and pipeline data to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct facility data research to support modifications and updates to existing infrastructure.
  • Maintain and provide gas facility mapping and engineering information to support engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Respond to requests for facility information from engineering firms, utility locating services, government agencies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Interpret and incorporate field notes, survey data, and as-built documentation into project drawings.
  • Work under the direction of supervisors and senior designers while exercising initiative and sound judgment in completing drafting assignments.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality of design documents and related records.
  • Support a positive and professional work environment through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 0–2+ years of professional drafting, design, or related technical experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and drafting principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret facility drawings, alignment sheets, survey information, and construction documentation.
  • Understanding of drafting standards, industry terminology, property rights-of-way, and surveying principles.
  • Basic knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Vehicle Tracking, Autodesk Vault, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and CADWorx P&ID (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and their application within construction drawing packages.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform computer-based drafting work for extended periods and travel to field locations as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain when conducting field visits.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Regular and reliable attendance in accordance with approved work schedules.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and performance expectations.
  • Adherence to all client policies, business ethics standards, and applicable industry regulations and compliance requirements.
