Job Overview:
- The Real Estate & Workplace Services (REWS) Governance and Planning team is seeking a Data Governance Advisor to support the implementation and ongoing maturation of its data governance program. Reporting to the Digital Solutions/Data Governance Lead, this role will coordinate daily governance activities, monitor data quality initiatives, track program progress, and develop meaningful dashboards and reporting to measure outcomes.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in improving data quality, strengthening data stewardship practices, enhancing governance processes, and driving data-focused decision-making across REWS. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with business and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain data governance issue logs, action registers, and program progress trackers.
- Track completion of governance deliverables, including data ownership assignments, stewardship assignments, business glossaries, data dictionaries, data quality rules, and data quality scorecards.
- Monitor governance KPIs and provide regular status reporting to leadership.
- Coordinate governance meetings, capture decisions, and document action items.
- Escalate overdue governance activities, risks, and issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain a centralized data quality issue register and ensure timely follow-up on open items.
- Collaborate with Data Stewards and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve data quality issues.
- Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and track remediation activities through completion.
- Document business rules, data quality requirements, and governance standards.
- Validate corrective actions and confirm successful issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain governance documentation, including process maps, operating procedures, governance standards, RACI matrices, and supporting artifacts.
- Identify process and documentation gaps and implement improvements to governance templates and standards.
- Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and reporting solutions.
- Develop governance reporting related to data quality metrics, stewardship coverage, governance maturity, issue aging, resolution trends, and compliance status.
- Create executive-level dashboards, visualizations, and summary reports.
- Ensure consistent application of data definitions, reporting standards, and performance measures.
- Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, business stakeholders, and technology teams to support governance objectives.
- Facilitate governance workshops, working sessions, and stakeholder discussions.
- Promote awareness of governance standards, processes, and accountabilities across the organization.
- Support change management initiatives and communication activities related to data governance programs.
Qualifications:
- 6–8 years of experience in data governance, data quality management, quality assurance, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise data governance programs and initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data stewardship, data ownership, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and governance activities.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
