Maintenance Planner
- Pay Rate: $66.54 to 81.18/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 1 year
- Location: Sunrise Oil Sands, Alberta
- Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodations provided
- Rotation (8 days in – 6 days out, 12 hours a day)
- Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
- Contractors are expected to travel to Calgary or Edmonton for chartered flights to camp sites.
Raise is currently hiring a Maintenance Planner on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Maintenance Planner in this role will be responsible for planning and coordinating all tasks related to maintenance work orders to support efficient execution by maintenance teams. Works with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Project groups to ensure alignment, readiness, and effective scheduling of maintenance activities. Ensures all planning activities meet standards, site procedures, and operational priorities.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning all maintenance activities associated with assigned trade-based work
- Receives and reviews work requests, prioritizes tasks, and selects work for execution based on priority and required dates
- Develops detailed work plans including materials, tools, labour requirements, external services, and estimated costs
- Prepares complete work packages with task sequencing and required documentation
- Confirms availability of materials, tools, and services prior to scheduled execution
- Supports preventive maintenance programs and job plan reviews
- Coordinates maintenance activities with cross-functional stakeholders
- Ensures sufficient planned work to support short-term scheduling
- Supports planning for shutdown, turnaround, and outage events, including major maintenance scopes
- Participates in planning-related meetings within the maintenance management framework
- Provides planning support for corrective actions and project-related maintenance work
- Maintains and improves future task lists to enhance planning effectiveness
- Escalates issues requiring higher-level input or resolution
- Accountabilities
- Accountable for adherence to the work order lifecycle process
- Accountable for achieving planning-related KPIs, including planning accuracy, backlog management, and work order completion readiness
- Accountable for supporting maintenance budget adherence through accurate planning and cost estimation
- Accountable for compliance with site processes, procedures, and standard practices
- Accountable for coordinating planning activities across maintenance, operations, and engineering groups

Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in maintenance planning or a related field.
- 10 years of industrial experience at the journeyman level
- Extensive experience using a CMMS for maintenance planning (SAP and/or Prometheus preferred)
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and ERP systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to high safety standards
- Assets:
- Experience supporting turnaround, shutdown, and outage planning
- Familiarity with ABSA regulatory requirements
- Experience acting as an operations liaison on projects
- Greenfield and Brownfield projects, New Construction, and Management of Change (MOC)
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field.
- Journeyman Trade Certification
