  • Pay Rate: $68.57 to 83.66/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 year
  • Location: Calgary, Alberta

Raise is currently hiring an IT Data Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

As an IT Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data and automation to solve complex business challenges and drive operational efficiency across our clients integrated IT/OT (Information Technology / Operational Technology) systems. You will be responsible for the full data lifecycle—collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting diverse datasets to uncover hidden patterns and trends. Transforming raw data into actionable insights, you will build dynamic reporting solutions and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to inform strategic decision-making and fuel continuous improvement.

Responsibilities            

  • Utilize data and automation to solve business problems and improve efficiency for the organization's IT/OT systems.
  • Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and create actionable insights, then communicate these findings to stakeholders to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
  • Data Collection and Management (ETL):
  • Gathering data from various sources, including databases, systems, and potentially external sources.
  • Developing and maintaining data collection and storage systems.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:
  • Applying statistical techniques and tools to analyze data.
  • Identifying trends, patterns, and correlations within the data.
  • Developing data models to support analysis and predictions.
  • Communication and Reporting:
  • Creating visualizations, reports, dashboards, and write-back dashboards.
  • Communicating insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
  • Empowered to innovate and learn skills to incorporate the use of new technologies to solve difficult business problems.
  • Troubleshoot and identify optimization opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a data analyst, data engineer, or business intelligence role.
  • Proficiency in SQL, competency in Python, Power BI, and experience in data modeling and processing techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have Skills:
  • Experience with Databricks, PI Data Historian, MS SQL Server, other data visualization tools, REST API programming.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information, including visualizations and reports to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of the upstream oil & gas industry, specifically Process Data, SCADA, Field Data Capture, SAP.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.    

Additional Information

  • As part of the interview process for this role there will be a mandatory technical test of short-listed candidates of Python and SQL skills.
