Qualified Coordinator
Pay Rate: Up to $56-70/hour (based on experience)
Contract Length: 1 year
Location: Revelstoke, British Columbia (Project Site)
Raise is currently hiring a Qualified Coordinator on behalf of our client. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to coordinate safety activities across multiple employers on large-scale construction projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a strong safety culture.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
The Qualified Coordinator acts as the designated safety coordinator on multi-employer construction workplaces, ensuring effective coordination of health and safety activities between contractors, supervisors, and workers. This role provides strategic leadership in hazard identification, regulatory compliance, contractor coordination, and continuous safety improvement while supporting safe project delivery across complex construction environments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate health and safety activities between multiple employers on construction worksites.
- Ensure all employers and workers are informed of known hazards and applicable mitigation measures.
- Facilitate communication between contractors to eliminate overlapping hazards and improve worksite coordination.
- Conduct workplace inspections to verify compliance with safety programs, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure mitigation strategies are developed, communicated, and effectively implemented.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain Notices of Project (NOP) documentation as required.
- Develop, update, and maintain the Prime Contractor Safety Management Plan.
- Assess first aid and emergency response requirements while coordinating emergency drills and evacuation exercises.
- Develop and manage real-time site safety coordination systems and documentation.
- Create and maintain construction safety procedures, orientation materials, and training resources.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety into planning and execution activities.
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to project teams.
- Mentor and coach field personnel while promoting a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
- Deliver site orientations and manage Safe Work Observation programs.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other Qualified Coordinators as required.
- Perform additional duties in support of project safety objectives.
Key Deliverables
- Effective coordination of health and safety activities across multiple contractors.
- Compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and Prime Contractor responsibilities.
- Timely completion and maintenance of project safety documentation.
- Successful implementation of hazard identification and risk mitigation programs.
- Delivery of site orientations, safety meetings, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Continuous improvement of project safety performance and contractor engagement.
Education & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Occupational Health & Safety, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent combinations of education and a minimum of 7 years of relevant field experience will be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of experience working in multi-contractor construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and multi-employer worksite requirements.
- Experience coordinating Prime Contractor responsibilities and contractor safety programs.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, leadership, and relationship management skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience working on hydroelectric, utility, civil, electrical, mechanical, transmission, tunnelling, roadwork, dam, or other major infrastructure projects.
- Previous Project Coordinator experience within construction or industrial environments.
- Strong facilitation skills for contractor meetings, safety orientations, and kickoff sessions.
- Mental Health First Aid certification.
- Leadership or conflict resolution training.
- Experience supporting remote camp, industrial, or high-risk construction projects.
