Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on compressor station equipment and systems, including air systems, air dryers, fuel systems, cooling systems, gas compression equipment, and prime movers.
  • Ensure all station equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to maintain uninterrupted gas delivery operations.
  • Identify, assess, and respond appropriately to abnormal operating conditions, equipment malfunctions, and system performance issues.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Provide guidance and direction to assigned personnel during maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards, actively participate in safety initiatives, and promote a strong safety culture at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to support operational goals and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and applicable regulatory requirements, including PHMSA and EPA standards.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support operational and maintenance activities as required and perform additional duties assigned to meet business and operational needs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of directly related mechanical maintenance, repair, or industrial equipment experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various environmental and weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, shifts, standby assignments, on-call rotations, and overnight travel as required.
  • Must currently reside within, or be willing to relocate within, 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.

Preferred:

  • Strong desire to develop professionally and advance within a Mechanical Technician career path.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline operations, compressor station equipment, and related maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills acquired through training, education, or work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment that values integrity, collaboration, inclusiveness, and accountability.
  • Proven commitment to safe work practices and operational excellence.
  • Innovative and resourceful problem-solving abilities while maintaining compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, initiative, and responsibility.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Must reside within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.
  • Required to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts, standby assignments, and on-call schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be available for emergency response duties on a 24-hour basis as needed.
  • Occasional travel outside the assigned geographic area is required.
  • Approximately 10–25 overnight travel days per year may be required.
  • Regular exposure to high-noise environments and areas where vapors or industrial hazards may be present.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • The role requires the ability to regularly perform physical activities, including but not limited to:
  • Standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Grasping, repetitive hand movements, and operating tools and equipment.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Using computers and related equipment for extended periods.
  • Reading screens, interpreting color-coded information, and viewing detailed technical documentation.
  • Maintaining the hearing and visual acuity necessary to safely perform job duties and respond to operational conditions.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

  • Understand, retain, and apply written, verbal, and technical instructions.
  • Analyze complex mechanical and operational issues and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Make sound decisions that impact daily operations and team performance.
  • Accurately complete forms, reports, maintenance documentation, and correspondence.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and team members in person, electronically, and by telephone.
  • Maintain attention to detail while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
