As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a Systems Operations Specialist to support mission-critical enterprise systems used by Government and Law Enforcement customers across Canada.

Position Overview

As a Systems Operations Specialist, you will provide technical support, system administration, deployments, and troubleshooting for enterprise applications and infrastructure in mission-critical environments.

This role combines customer-facing technical support with hands-on system administration and deployment activities. You will work closely with Engineering, QA, and Operations teams to maintain service levels, resolve production issues, and ensure successful customer implementations.

This position includes participation in an after-hours on-call rotation and occasional travel to customer sites across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for enterprise applications and systems.
  • Install, configure, deploy, and upgrade software, servers, and customer workstations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Support Government and Law Enforcement customers by diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Monitor system performance and maintain service level expectations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and QA teams to investigate complex issues and implement solutions.
  • Assist with software deployments, system upgrades, and customer implementations.
  • Perform basic scripting and automation tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
  • Execute basic SQL queries to assist with troubleshooting and system support.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call support schedule.
  • Travel to customer locations as required (approximately 10%).

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration or technical support beyond a Help Desk environment.
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience deploying or supporting enterprise applications and systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Basic SQL and database knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Canada.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Java Application Servers or enterprise Java applications.
  • Experience working in Government, Public Safety, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems with defined service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Microsoft certifications are considered an asset.

Additional Information

  • Travel: Approximately 10% within Canada
  • On-call Rotation: One week every two weeks
  • Security Clearance: Successful candidates must complete a fingerprint-based security clearance (coordinated by the client).
