Construction Coordinator
- Contract Length: 4 Months
- Location: McArthur River, Saskatchewan
- Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodations provided
- Rotation (2 weeks in-2weeks out, 11 hours a day)
- Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp sites.
Raise is currently hiring a Construction Coordinator on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
The Construction Coordinator in this role supports the Construction Management Team (CMT) with the overall objective of safely, efficiently, and effectively executing site construction projects. As a field-based role, the position requires regular presence at the construction workface to monitor progress, support contractor personnel, and maintain high standards of safety and operational efficiency.
This role acts as a central communication link between the CMT, engineering groups, site operations, and field contractors, ensuring seamless coordination and alignment across all project phases.
Responsibilities
- Field Support & Operations Coordination
- Workface Coordination: Coordinate daily activities between the CMT, engineering, contractor teams, and operations to maintain project flow and eliminate workflow bottlenecks.
- On-Site Field Support: Conduct regular field site visits to inspect construction activities, support field personnel, and ensure work aligns with site safety and quality standards.
- Digital Systems Assistance: Support CMT members and contractor personnel in utilizing digital/computer-based systems, project management software, and mobile field devices (e.g., field tablets).
- Schedule & Progress Tracking
- Schedule Reviews: Perform weekly reviews of contractor-submitted construction schedules and consolidate feedback from CMT discipline superintendents.
- Progress Validation: Collaborate with the CMT and contractors to validate claimed schedule progress in the field, raising any discrepancies to the Construction Manager for prompt resolution.
- Productivity Tracking: Track and calculate construction productivity metrics, compiling field data to generate status updates for project leadership.
- Technical & Administrative Support
- RFI & Engineering Liaison: Liaise directly with engineering teams to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and design clarifications required by field crews.
- Documentation & Records: Log, track, and close out project action items while maintaining accurate, centralized digital records and providing general administrative support to the CMT.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in a construction, engineering, or industrial project environment (heavy industrial, mining, or energy sector preferred).
- Hands-on experience operating and navigating digital mobile tools and field tablets in an operational or job-site setting.
- Previous exposure to field safety protocols, contractor coordination, and progress tracking.
- Technical Skills & Tools
- Proficiency with mobile field technologies and digital construction tracking software.
- Experience or familiarity with SAP (specifically Planning and Notification modules) is a significant asset.
- Basic understanding of construction scheduling techniques, progress measurement, and productivity calculation methods.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Core Competencies & Soft Skills
- Exceptional time management and task-tracking abilities to handle multiple RFIs, action items, and schedules simultaneously.
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively between engineering, operations, and field craft.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify schedule discrepancies or field challenges and escalate them appropriately.
- Uncompromising commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards in line with industrial site regulations.
- Education and Certifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Mining), or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Journeyperson Trade Certification in a relevant field is considered a strong asset.
