Job Overview:

  • The Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design and engineering of Liquids Pump Station facilities for capital expansion and maintenance projects executed by third-party engineering consultants. This role ensures that all designs comply with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry codes while meeting project budget and schedule objectives.
  • The position serves as a key liaison with other Enbridge functional groups within Project Execution, Operations, Shared Services, and construction teams, as well as external engineering firms, to ensure project requirements are effectively incorporated into design deliverables and successfully implemented throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate third-party engineering consultants to ensure design deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established quality requirements.
  • Ensure pump station facilities are designed in compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, corporate specifications, and engineering best practices.
  • Design electrical systems, components, and interconnections for pump station facilities and supporting infrastructure.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve engineering design deliverables, including drawings, technical reports, calculations, specifications, and material listing sheets.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design review meetings with engineering consultants, Project Managers, Operations personnel, and Construction teams to review project scope, design intent, expected performance, and constructability considerations.
  • Review vendor quotations and technical submissions; conduct technical evaluations and provide recommendations based on technical suitability, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Support the selection and procurement of equipment and materials, including pumps, motors, generators, vessels, buildings, piping systems, valves, fittings, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Identify, document, and communicate lessons learned, quality incidents, and opportunities for continuous improvement across assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure operational, maintenance, safety, and reliability requirements are incorporated into project designs.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and project start-up activities.
  • Support departmental initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and operational excellence efforts as required.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience in engineering design, project execution, or industrial facilities.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering standards, adapt existing solutions, and leverage previous experience to resolve technical issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external engineering consultants.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, pump station facilities, and related equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Approximately 80% of work is office-based, collaborating with multiple project teams and stakeholders.
  • Approximately 20% of work involves field activities, including project scoping, site visits, procurement support, construction oversight, and commissioning support.
  • Role requires the ability to manage time-sensitive deliverables and work in a dynamic project environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency is required, including the effective use of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required to support project execution and operational requirements.
