Description
The Master Data, SAP Specialist will support the management and maintenance of master data for fixed mechanical assets within an SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) environment. The role focuses on tanks, vessels, sumps, piping, and other fixed mechanical assets, with responsibility for creating and updating Inspection Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities based on field walkdowns and operational requirements.
The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical field knowledge with advanced SAP EAM expertise to ensure asset and maintenance data accurately reflects site requirements and supports effective maintenance planning and execution.
Responsibilities
SAP EAM & Master Data
- Create, modify, and maintain SAP EAM master data for fixed mechanical assets.
- Create and update Inspection Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities in SAP EAM.
- Ensure asset and maintenance information accurately reflects field conditions and operational requirements.
- Support maintenance planning and scheduling activities through accurate and complete SAP data.
- Maintain high data quality and integrity across asset and maintenance records.
Field Walkdowns & Asset Management
- Conduct field walkdowns at operating sites to gather execution and operational requirements.
- Review fixed mechanical assets including tanks, vessels, sumps, piping, and related equipment.
- Translate field observations and technical requirements into appropriate SAP EAM maintenance data.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to validate asset information and PM requirements.
Site & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with site-based Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams.
- Identify data gaps and recommend updates to improve maintenance planning and execution.
- Support consistent application of SAP EAM processes across operating sites.
- Provide accurate documentation and updates related to asset master data and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience, preferably in operations, engineering, or maintenance within the Energy or Mining industry.
- Minimum 5 continuous years of site-based experience in mining and/or energy environments.
- Strong mechanical background as an experienced tradesperson or engineer.
- High-level proficiency in SAP EAM is mandatory.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance planning and scheduling in SAP EAM.
- Experience working with fixed mechanical assets such as tanks, vessels, sumps, piping, and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and asset management requirements.
- Ability to conduct field walkdowns and translate operational requirements into SAP maintenance data.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Education and Certifications
- Engineering Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering is ideal.
- For candidates without a degree, a Journeyman Ticket in a relevant trade (e.g., Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Electrician)
- Certifications (nice to have) SAP Certified Application Associate – Asset Management (S/4HANA), SAP Certified Application Associate – Master Data Governance (MDG), SAP ERP Integration of Business Processes (TS410)
