Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
Our client is seeking an AGV1 Project SSHE Manager to lead safety, security, health, and environmental strategy for the Advanced Graphite Venture 1 project in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, a new capital project supporting production of battery anode material for electric vehicles.
This is a residential, site based role with no travel, reporting to the AGV1 Project Manager.
The person who steps into this role will build the project's SSHE program from the ground up and own OIMS implementation from day one.
Working alongside the project's primary construction contractor, this person will set the job site's safety cadence and help stand up a new safety management system as the project mobilizes.
This is the first of several major capital projects planned for company's graphite business, so strong performance here opens the door to more.
Responsibilities
- Lead the AGV1 project team across OIMS, safety, security, health, environment, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness and response, and incident management.
- Own OIMS as system owner for personnel safety, security management, environment management, compliance with laws and regulations, occupational health, incident management, and emergency preparedness and response, facilitating each element and developing scorecards and field validations.
- Finalize and implement AGV1's SSHE plan alongside the systems, processes, and tools used across client's major capital projects.
- Partner directly with the project's primary construction contractor on job site setup, daily meeting cadence, and the collaborative build of the site's new safety management system.
- Lead functional interface management with EMAGS SSHE, Global Security Department, Medical and Occupational Health, company's Global Projects Company SSHE, and ExxonMobil Corporate SSHE.
- Drive the monthly SSHE stewardship call, reporting on system health and delivering the project scorecard.
- Ensure contractors and subcontractors are fully onboarded and understand site and project expectations.
- Test the effectiveness of the SSHE program, including PSMS verification and validation, worker competency, emergency response, and high risk activity monitoring.
- Develop and steward SSHE leading and trailing performance indicators.
- Support contractor incident investigation, documentation, reporting, and follow up.
- Manage SSHE risks, opportunities, and issues, and champion project wide improvement initiatives.
- Lead and mentor AGV1 project SSHE staff, including a construction experienced team member already on site and an additional hire joining later.
- Steward the AGV1 project SSHE budget, schedule, and workgroup deliverables as a member of the project leadership team.
- Serve as the face of SSHE for the AGV1 project, reporting to senior leadership while staying connected to daily field activity.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in SSHE, ideally gained on major capital projects.
- Experience on a large scale capital project with a workforce in the hundreds or more, with a genuine understanding of how a major project operates at that scale.
- Proven hands on SSHE leadership experience, with the polish to report to senior leadership while staying connected to day to day field activity.
- Broad technical and SSHE skills with working knowledge of major capital projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to function as both a manager and a mentor.
- Ability to work a 6×10 schedule, Monday through Saturday, with occasional Sunday work as needed.
- Self starter who can ramp up quickly on a brand new, ground up project.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Prior company experience, particularly with OIMS and personal safety management systems.
- 15 years of experience in oil and gas, though comparable rigor from manufacturing, data center, or semiconductor capital projects, Tesla type experience for example, is also welcome.
