Quality Assurance Data Analyst
Pay Rate: $33 – $38/hour on W2
Contract Length: 12 months
Location: 50 miles within Approved HUB Locations (Remote)
Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Responsibilities
- Confirm the accuracy of various data updates and extracts, which involves understanding the logic of complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions based on requirements, writing appropriate test queries, and executing them to verify the logic and data.
- Work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and other QA team members to identify, report, and troubleshoot defects; verify problem fixes in a detailed, efficient, and timely manner.
- Use tools such as Excel and SQL Server, and others, directly query, assess, and analyze data to ensure requirements are being met.
- Follow prescribed software development standards, processes, procedures, methodologies, etc., according to departmental policies and conventions.
- Interact and correspond professionally with team members, project management, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Account for and accurately log time against project work.
- Work well with other associates not only internally but externally. Seek to de-escalate in times of conflict rather than contribute to that conflict, regardless of who is right or wrong.
- Consistently follow the policies and procedures of Data Services such as time entry, % complete, SR comments, etc.
- Review requirements specifications and identify gaps and inconsistencies
- Confirm the accuracy of initial import of data involving hundreds, thousands, or even millions of records
- Work closely with business partners in eliciting project requirements to create test cases
- Understand the context of work and write or evaluate test plans and/or set up and execute test cases, to confirm data on normal and exceptional records, to cover various data scenarios and anomalies
- Demonstrates appropriate work ethic by striving to hit deadlines and working closely with others to remediate issues without defaulting to push-back.
- Communicates properly and effectively not only internally but externally. This includes providing status on time and constantly keeping clear communication open to leadership, Workforce and PMs.
- Understands and follows standards of Data Services and provides dependable peer review to catch errors of this type.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent analytical and organizational skills; Strong deductive reasoning
- Ability to multi-task and work separate projects in a fast paced & dynamic company environment and extremely tight timelines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction or as part of a team
- Ability to work in an environment with immediate deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Proficient with MS Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; able to adjust for intended audience. Fluent in English.
- Experience as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Process Specialist, or other role where business functional requirements are captured and decomposed.
- Experience with relational databases and ability to comprehend moderately complex SQL logic.
- Basic understanding of data modeling and data organization.
- Basic understanding of and experience with extract, transform, load (ETL) concepts, tools, and practices.
- Expert-level T-SQL to include thorough understanding of the following concepts:
- NULL handling
- Sub queries: IN, EXISTS, and inline views, Correlated Subqueries
- Constraints, Primary keys, foreign keys, defaults
- Error trapping
- Transactions
- BCP, BULK INSERT
- Indexing
- Advanced stored procedures and user defined functions programming
- Triggers
- Correct usage of views and temp tables and common table expression for pulling, creating, and updating data
- 2+ years’ of very strong experience in database testing with the ability to understand, write, and execute very complex SQL queries, and understand the logic of stored procedures
- 1+ years’ experience working with T-SQL, or ANSI-89 / ANSI-92.
