We know that it’s confusing: the statutory holidays that are covered vary from province to province (or territory), based on what is legislated for that province or territory.
Because of provincial legislation, we end up with varying holidays – for example: Remembrance Day is a holiday in some provinces, but not in others. Boxing Day is a (paid) statutory holiday in Ontario and Nunavut … and in New Brunswick for part time, and seasonal employees or temporary employees who have 6 months or more continuous service. We understand your confusion!
To further complicate things, some clients will have their offices closed on holidays that are not considered a statutory holiday. Those days are treated as unpaid holidays, unless special arrangements are made with the client (in advance of the holiday) for an alternate arrangement.
