Mechanical Engineer
- Pay Rate: $40- $46/hour (on W2)

Overview
The Mechanical is responsible for providing project management and technical engineering support for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of pipeline, terminal, tank farm, and fuel storage assets. This role manages facility upgrade and maintenance projects while partnering closely with Operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient asset performance. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, effective communication skills, customer-focused support, and the ability to apply risk-based decision-making in both project execution and daily operations. Depending on the operating area, the role may involve 20% to 50% field work, including occasional travel and overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Manage the execution and financial stewardship of facility upgrade and technical maintenance projects within assigned operating areas, including terminals, tank farms, pipelines, and salt dome storage facilities.
- Oversee multiple projects at various stages of development and execution, typically with project appropriations up to $2 million.
- Lead project activities including scope development, engineering design, cost estimating, procurement of materials and services, schedule development, and field execution.
- Provide day-to-day multi-discipline engineering support and troubleshooting for Operations teams.
- Develop and implement practical, cost-effective solutions to improve asset reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Support the operation and maintenance of equipment including pumps, piping systems, valves, flow meters, storage tanks, salt domes, flares, docks, foundations, structures, and other mechanical and civil infrastructure.
- Participate in risk management activities and ensure projects and operational activities align with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, Zone Projects, Business Development, SSHE, GPI, OCC, Engineering Technology, and Optimization Engineering teams.
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to support project execution, troubleshooting efforts, and operational improvements.
- Maintain a strong focus on operational excellence, customer support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, pipelines, terminals, tank farms, fuel storage, or related operations.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling, and field execution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to learn and apply engineering standards, industry best practices, and operational procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functional teams.
- Experience providing technical troubleshooting and operational support in a field environment.
- Understanding of risk management principles and the ability to apply risk-based decision-making.
- Proficiency with engineering documentation, project tracking, and technical reporting.
- Willingness and ability to work in field environments and travel as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
