Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
You help the client move goods across borders at the right duty rate, with no delays. You assign the tariff and export codes used on every company import and export declaration. Tariffs change fast, so accurate codes protect the business from overpaying duty, penalties, and clearance holds. Success means your decisions are correct, consistent across products and countries, and ready for any audit.
Responsibilities
Our client’s Global Projects is seeking a Senior Project Controls Advisor to support the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique. The client participates through the Mozambique Rovuma Venture, a joint venture with international partners, and the project has just passed Gate 3 and is entering Stage 4 execution. This role sits on the venture (core) business team, which forecasts and reports from client's own perspective rather than relying on EPC contractor reports. The Senior Project Controls Advisor will provide hands-on project controls support and analysis for the overall venture, including Owner's costs (staffing and non-staffing), monthly reporting, actuals, budget evaluations, and support for invoicing and cost coding across several company, affiliate, and joint venture SAP systems. The role is based at the Hughes Landing office in The Woodlands, TX, moving to the client’s Houston Campus in Spring later in 2027.
Responsibilities
- Track, analyze, and forecast Owner's costs for the venture, including staffing and non-staffing costs, from a company owner's perspective.
- Prepare and support monthly internal and external cost reporting, including actuals, forecasts, and budget evaluations.
- Gather actuals from multiple the company, affiliate, and joint venture SAP systems and reconcile them against forecasts and budgets.
- Build and maintain Excel tools that check staffing data, confirm charges land on the right WBS elements and cost centers, and test billing.
- Help set up and maintain cost structures, codes, and processes as the project moves into Stage 4 execution.
- Advise project team members on which cost center or WBS element to charge, and correct miscoded costs.
- Monitor invoice processing and payment timing, flag rejected, late, or misbilled invoices, and route issues to the responsible finance team.
- Support the build of Power BI dashboards that combine actuals and forecasts, so project managers can see budget overruns and underruns early.
- Anticipate upcoming work, prioritize competing requests, and raise problems early so they reach the right person.
- Take on ownership of larger workstreams, such as Owner's staffing costs, as knowledge of the venture's systems and agreements grows.
Required Qualifications
- Senior-level project controls experience on large capital projects, with a hands-on, individual contributor approach.
- Project controls experience on company projects, with working knowledge of client’s cost reporting, SAP, and project controls terminology.
- Strong Excel skills for building, checking, and reconciling cost and staffing data.
- Proven ability to prioritize and balance competing priorities on a lean team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of accuracy, consistency, and dependability.
- Self-driven, able to anticipate and plan work, and able to bring order to complex, changing situations.
- Ability to adapt established practices to the rules, systems, and partner agreements of a complex joint venture.
- Ability to work on site at Hughes Landing during onboarding, with early meetings (often 7 AM) to overlap with teams in Mozambique, Europe, and India.
Preferred Qualifications
- Stage 4 (execution phase) project controls experience, ideally on a company project.
- Owner's cost project controls experience, including staffing costs, beyond EPC contractor oversight.
- Experience with invoicing, cost coding, and accounting setup on capital projects or joint ventures.
- Experience building Power BI dashboards from multiple data sources.
- Experience with joint venture or partner-operated projects and multiple SAP systems.
- Basic PowerPoint skills for monthly reporting.
